I would like to introduce two women who are helping to make Mabel Chong a household name. In a great many ways I am fortunate to work with them. Not only do we make things happen, but I can say that working with each of them deepens my own experience in ways I could not have predicted. Life is funny that way, but it also leads to awe-inspiring rewards if we let it.
First, there’s Adrianne Jackson who came onboard a few months ago. A consummate professional, Adrianne largely runs the Union Street store. I find her remarkably charming—she should write a book on it! Because she’s also worked with major brands, she is a great source of insight.
Where are you from? The pacific northwest! Portland, Oregon
What are some of the places you worked in the past? Cartier, Gucci, a fabulous watch boutique in Carmel called Chatel. I like to be surrounded by beautiful things.
Style heroine? Leandra Medine, Kerry Washington
What you’re listening to lately. Hiatus Kaiyote at the moment
Magazines you look at. Watch Time, The Economist, Vogue Paris
Favorite stones. Diamonds (What else?—Mabel)
Where you’d like to go sometime, all dolled up. Wine tasting or dinner with friends in Carmel by the Sea, my home away from home.
What about working in a small business gets you excited? Each day is different, there is never a dull moment!
What makes Mabel Chong unique? There is so much variety in the designs, colors, and the jewelry is very reasonably priced. Women of every age and walk of life can walk into Mabel Chong and find their new favorite piece of jewelry, or work with Mabel to create one.
The second stroke of good luck this year has been to meet and hire Amanda Lui. Fluent in English and Chinese (and maybe more, who knows!), she is going to be an incredible asset in the wholesale part of the business. I’m excited to work with someone so young, savvy, and ambitious.
Where are you from? I was born in Miami, but raised in Hong Kong.
Where have you worked in the past? Movado Group, Publicis Groupe, Urban Hardwoods, Wells Fargo, M1NT Global Holdings.
Style influences? I like it young and moving. Zara, All Saints, Lipsy, Vespa. I wear a lot of dresses. Not only because dresses looks great and brings out the feminine side of a lady, but i also enjoy not needing to put too much thoughts into what to wear in the morning. Dress and throw on a pair of heels. Done!
Music? Lorde (Until she gets over played), Alt J, Mr Little Jeans, Massive Attack, Nouvelle Vague, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Melody Gardot, Emilie Simon. I love jazz over a glass of wine, too.
Favorite stone? Diamonds top the list, but I love labradorite, moonstones, moss aquamarine. The color of these stones goes well with almost everything. I have a GIA certificate, and have seen pretty much everything. I really love Mabel’s color sense.
Where you’d like to go sometime, all dolled up. Anywhere but the gym. You can never over dress, I believe.
What about working in a small business gets you excited? The potential growth for both personal and the company. Mabel Chong is not just any small business, this business has so much potential because Mabel herself has the biggest passion for what she does. Thats what makes the company so much more valuable and amazing compared to other business.
What makes Mabel Chong unique? Have you met her? She herself is probably the most stylish chic jewelry designer i’ve met. Her talent is what inspires me. She’s able to design jewelry pieces that suit every woman. Each and every piece is not only beautiful to wear but is beautiful to enjoy and appreciate just by looking at it. It’s art, and it’s exciting.
So you can see, I’m excited. And lucky. Come in and meet these fabulous young women for yourself!
